During the past generations, Jehovah did speak to our ancestors. To some of them, He advised just how to get along, how and where to live, what to eat, just with whom they were allowed to associate, even how to judge and punish their wicked. The list goes on and on. During this time period, Jehovah made certain recommendations for His people's benefit. It is the purpose of this project that focuses on these times and settings as well as how we can benefit from these warning examples. I will be listing each of the times that Jehovah told his people that a certain event was going to take place and then briefly going to just what did take place and when it happened. I will also make brief comments about how others who were not given the direct instructions from Jehovah viewed the situation as well as their varied or similar outcomes. We should also remember that when Jehovah gave His instructions to His servants, He also gave instructions to warn people in the surrounding areas about these impending events. Their failure to cooperate with Jehovah's warnings always meant their life or death depending on how they responded to those warnings. But never in any of Jehovah's warnings did He ever force anyone to cooperate with Him. Using hindsight, it would have obviously been to their benefit had they cooperated with Him. Here are some of the warnings listed in the Bible.
Genesis 1:1-31 discusses the activities that will take place during the first creative days. All Scriptures discussed herein were fulfilled at their appointed time at the beginning of creation.
Genesis 2:16-17 Jehovah told Adam not to eat of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden in order to keep alive. It is believed by various statements in the Bible that Adam also passed this information along to his wife Eve. According to Genesis 3:12, Adam admitted to Jehovah that he ate from the fruit from this forbidden tree. Within the allotted 1000 years or one day in prophetic terms, Adam died. Adam died when he was 930 years old. There is no written record as to how long Eve then lived or when she died. Interesting to is that there is no written record of any human living beyond the 1000 year prophetic day period. The longest living human was Methuselah at 969 years found at Genesis 5:27. Also an interesting side note to this issue was that from the time of Adam who was created 1656 years before the flood of Noah's day (4,026 B.C.E.) to when the flood happened in 2370 B.C.E. people were living in the 900+/- year-old range. Then by the time Noah died, Noah was only 630 years old. Only a few generations of humans have now passed by when human life expect had severely dropped. Abraham considered himself old when he was only 100 and Sarah, his wife was only 90.
Genesis 6:14-17 Jehovah told Noah to build an ark for the preservation his family and some animals. According to Genesis 7:10-11 the flood began. The rest is history.
Genesis 17:16 Jehovah told Abraham and Sarah that they would have a child named Isaac. This was something that was impossible because of their respective ages, Adam being 100 and Sarah being 90. Genesis 21:2-3 shows that a healthy Isaac was born a year later
Genesis 19:14-26 Jehovah warned lot to get out of Sodom immediately. This Scripture was fulfilled in verse 24 where it reads that Jehovah then made it rain fire and sulfur from heaven and the area was destroyed.
Genesis 19:17 Jehovah's Angel gave the command to keep going forward and not to look back. Genesis 17:26 shows what happened when lots wife looked back and then turned into a pillar of salt.
Genesis 11:1-4 the residence of Babylon chose to build a tower in competition to Jehovah. Verse 7-8 shows how Jehovah responded by confusing their language.
Genesis 37:5-9 Joseph was given a dream I Jehovah that his brothers and his father would bow down to him and serve him. Genesis 42:6,9 show that Joseph's brothers to go to Egypt to purchase foodstuffs from Joseph. They proceeded to bow down and do obeisance to Joseph to secure foodstuffs. This fulfilled the prophecy quoted.
Genesis 39:6 Joseph was assigned to serve under the court official Potiphar. As Potiphar's wife pursued Joseph for her own advantage, Joseph chose to stay firm to Jehovah's law. Genesis 39:5,23 shows that Jehovah continue to bless Joseph because of his firm stand for doing what was good in Jehovah's eyes.
Genesis 40:16 in the house of the Pharaoh of Egypt, the chief of the bakers, who happened to be in prison for a time had a dream. Along with him was the chief of the cupbearer's who also happen to be in prison for time had a dream. Joseph who happen to be in prison during this time because of having been accused of assaulting pharaohs wife, interpreted those dreams. He said that the dream meant that the chief of the bakers was to be killed by Pharaoh three days after his release from prison. He also said that the chief of the cupbearer's would find favor in Pharaoh's eyes and be honored. Genesis 40:20-22 shows that three days after being released from prison, it happened to be Pharaoh's birthday. He had the chief of the cupbearer's honored but the chief of the bakers Pharaoh hung.
Genesis 41:1-7 Pharaoh had a dream and cannot find anyone to interpret it. The chief of the cupbearer suggests to: Joseph who was still in prison, for the interpretation. Joseph then interprets pharaohs dream and shows that Egypt will enter into a seven-year period of plenty to be followed by a seven-year period of famine. Then in verse 32, Joseph says that I famine will certainly come on Egypt because of having showed Pharaoh the dream twice in two separate dreams. Genesis 41:53-57 shows that Egypt did enter into a seven-year period of plenty followed by a seven-year period of famine just as Jehovah had prophesied to Pharaoh in a dream.
